Autonomyとは他からの支配・制約などを受けずに、自ら課した原理によって決定すること。
またはそのような概念を指す。
この作品は複数台のイメージセンサーから撮影されたノイズ画像を
フォトグラメトリ、3D写真技術、3Dプリンタ用補正ソフトなどのソフトウェアに入り組ませることによってつくり出された。
上記のツール一つ一つによって変換される単一のデータは、
あくまでこちらからの指示により自動で加工されたものでしかない。
しかし、本来想定されていないこれらのツールが合わさり形づくられた生成物は、
なぜこのような形になったのか指示していたはずの私たちには全くわからないものとなっている。
このようにして生まれた実体を、CAD(コンピュータ支援設計)により
機械側から図面を作製させ3Dモデルの構造を観察するとともに、
また現実のものとした寸法を分析することで、
人間側から機械による自律的な原理に対しての解釈を試みた。
